Domestic Battery

State of IL v. “DA”: DA was arrested for domestic battery by the Franklin Park Police Department after getting into an argument with his girlfriend. DA’s case was sent to the Maywood Court House – 4th Municipal District of Cook County – 1500 Maybrook Dr # 235, Maywood, IL 60153. Attorney Matt Fakhoury presented evidence that DA was attacked by his girlfriend first and was therefore acting in self defense. After negotiating with the prosecutor, DA’s charges were eventually dismissed.

Unlawful Use of Weapon

State of IL v. “JH”: JH was arrested for Unlawful Use of a Weapon by the Harvey Police Department. JH was sitting in his vehicle with 2 other passengers when the police approached them. Police found a gun in the vehicle and arrested JH for possession of the weapon. JH’s case proceeded to the Markham Court House – 6th Municipal District of Cook County – 16501 Kedzie Ave, Markham, IL 60428. Attorney Matt Fakhoury argued that the gun did not belong to JH and could not be attributed to him. On the day of trial, JH’s charges were dismissed.

State of IL v. “NP”: NP was arrested for allegedly stealing several items from a Target store in Niles, IL. NP was caught by loss prevention and was also captured taking items on store video surveillance. NP’s case was sent to the Skokie Court House – 2nd Municipal District in Cook County – 5600 Old Orchard Rd., Skokie, IL 60077. NP hired Attorney Matt Fakhoury who immediately called the prosector to discuss the case. After negotiating with the prosecutor, the case was eventually dismissed.

State of IL v. “AE”: AE is a taxi driver who was involved in a car crash in Chicago. The police were called and spoke to AE. AE had an odor of alcohol on his breath and glassy eyes. AE was charged with DUI. Attorney Matt Fakhoury took the case to trial and AE was found Not Guilty of Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol!

State of IL v. “JL”: called The Law Offices of Matt Fakhoury and said the police were looking to arrest him for the offense of Domestic Battery. Attorney Matt Fakhoury spoke to the detective and told him JL would not be answering any of his questions. Mr. Fakhoury arranged the terms of the arrest and scheduled the bond hearing. JL’s case was assigned to the Circuit Court of Cook County – 3rd Municipal District – 2121 E. Euclid Ave., Rolling Meadows, IL. However, after speaking to the prosecutor, the case was dismissed without a bond hearing taking place!

Probation Violation

State of IL v. “KO”: KO was charged with violating the terms of her DUI probation for a subsequent DUI arrest. KO’s case was heard at the 3rd Municipal District in Cook County – Rolling Meadows Court House – 2121 E. Euclid Rd., Rolling Meadows, IL 60008. Despite the new arrest for DUI, Attorney Matt Fakhoury was not only able to keep KO out of custody, but also maintain the terms of her probation.

Aggravated Battery

State of IL v. “LG”: LJ was charged with Felony Aggravated Battery by the Rosemont Police Department after allegedly striking a police officer at a concert in Rosemont. LJ’s case was heard at the Circuit Court of Cook County- 3rd District – 2121 Euclid Ave., Rolling Meadows, IL 60008. After negotiating with the prosecutor, attorney Matt Fakhoury was able to avoid a felony conviction for LJ by getting the charge reduced to a misdemeanor.

State of IL v. “HC”: HC was charged with Violation of an Order of Protection by the Chicago Police Department after his wife alleged HC had violated an order of protection by showing up to her place of work. HC’s case was assigned to the Circuit Court of Cook County – Domestic Violence Courthouse located at 555 W. Harrison St., Chicago, IL 60607. Attorney Matt Fakhoury was able to provide evidence that HC was not served with the order of protection until after he was arrested. Therefore, HC did not have knowledge or notice that there was an order of protection against him at the time he went to see his wife. Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol (DUI)

State of IL v. “MW”: MW was found by the Illinois State Police pulled over on the shoulder of the highway sleeping in his vehicle. The Officer smelled alcohol on MW’s breath and noticed his eyes were red and glassy. MW did field sobriety testing and was subsequently arrested for DUI(625 ILCS 5/11-502). The case went to trial at the 3rd Municipal District in Cook County – Rolling Meadows Court House – 2121 Euclid Ave., Rolling Meadows, IL 60008. At trial, Attorney Matt Fakhoury was able to get the officer to admit that MW passed the field sobriety testing. After hearing the cross examination of the officer by Attorney Matt Fakhoury, the Judge found DM Not Guilty.

State of IL v. “DM”: DM was pulled over for driving without proper headlights by the Wilmette police department. The Officer smelled alcohol on DM’s breath and thought her eyes appeared to be red and glassy. DM did field sobriety testing which the officer stated she failed. DM was arrested for DUI (625 ILCS 5/11-502). The case went to trial at the 2nd Municipal District in Cook County – Skokie Court House – 5600 Old Orchard Rd. in Skokie, IL 60077. At trial, Attorney Matt Fakhoury showed evidence that DM had surgery on her feet a month before her arrest and consequently couldn’t perform the field sobriety tests properly. After hearing the cross examination of the officer by Attorney Matt Fakhoury, the Judge found DM Not Guilty.

State of IL v. “SG”: SG was charged with domestic battery by the Elk Grove Police Department after her boyfriend alleged SG scratched him on his chest. SG’s case was assigned to the Circuit Court of Cook County – Rolling Meadows Courthouse located at 2121 E. Euclid in Rolling Meadow, IL. After negotiating with the prosecutor, Attorney Matt Fakhoury was able to get the criminal case dismissed.

Attempt Murder, Aggravated Battery

State of IL v. “GJ”: GJ was charged with Attempt Murder and Aggravated Battery by the Cook County Sheriff’s Police Department after he was accused of stabbing someone outside of a bar in 2014. GJ’s case was heard at the Circuit Court of Cook County – 2600 S. California Ave. in Chicago, IL. GJ initially hired a different law firm but was not happy with their services and attention to his case. GJ then hired The Law Offices of Matt Fakhoury, LLC in 2015. Attorney Matt Fakhoury knew GJ was innocent and the evidence clearly showed he was being wrongfully accused. Matt Fakhoury conducted his own investigation and used his own investigators who spoke to witnesses the police did not attempt to interview. Eventually, Attorney Matt Fakhoury presented this information to the prosecutor who realized GJ was innocent and the case was eventually dismissed.

Village of Lincolnshire v. “MM”: MM was pulled over for speeding by the Lincolnshire police department. The Officer stated he smelled alcohol on MM’s breath and his eyes appeared to be red and glassy. The officer asked MM to do field sobriety testing. The officer felt that MM failed the field sobriety testing and arrested him for DUI (625 ILCS 5/11-502). At trial, Attorney Matt Fakhoury confronted the officer with his report which left out several key details regarding MM’s performance on the field sobriety testing. Attorney Matt Fakhoury also played the squad camera DVD to show that the officer’s testimony was not consistent with the DVD recording. After hearing the cross examination of the officer by Attorney Matt Fakhoury, the Judge found MM Not Guilty.

State of IL v. “PS”: PS was charged with domestic battery by the Des Plaines Police Department after a household member alleged PS was abusive towards her. PS’s case was assigned to the Circuit Court of Cook County – Skokie Courthouse located at 5600 Old Orchard Rd. State of IL v. “MT”: MT was charged with Retail Theft by the Chicago Police Department after allegedly taking several gift cards from a retail store in which she was employed. MT’s case was heard at the Circuit Court of Cook County- Branch 29 – 2452 West Belmont Ave., Chicago, Illinois 60618. After negotiating with MT’s employer and discussing the case with the prosecutor, attorney Matt Fakhoury was able to get the case dismissed.

JO was accused of domestic violence against his girlfriend. The evidence showed JO was not guilty of the charges and Attorney Matt Fakhoury was able to get JO’s case dismissed.

State of IL v. “VF”: VF was pulled over for speeding by the Glenview Police Department. The Officer smelled alcohol on VF’s breath and her eyes appeared to be red and glassy. VF admitted to drinking alcohol before driving and her speech was slurred. The officer asked VF to do field sobriety testing and he concluded that she failed the tests and arrested her for DUI (625 ILCS 5/11-502). The case was heard at the Skokie Court House – 5600 Old Orchard Rd. in Skokie, IL 60077. After negotiating with the prosecutor, Attorney Matt Fakhoury was able to remove the suspension of VF’s driver’s license and get the DUI charge reduced to the charge of Reckless Driving.

State of IL v. “GP”: GP was charged with DUI by the Des Plaines Police Department after allegedly hitting 2 parked cars due to driving while under the influence of alcohol. After negotiating with the prosecutor, attorney Matt Fakhoury was able to get the charge amended to a Reckless Driving.

State of IL v. “KA”: KA was charged with domestic battery by the Skokie Police Department after his ex-girlfriend said KA threw a cup of Coke at her causing her to be “soaked”. KA’s case was assigned to the Circuit Court of Cook County – Skokie Courthouse located at 5600 Old Orchard Rd. Attorney Matt Fakhoury took the case to trial and was able to get the ex-girlfriend to admit that she did not see KA throw anything at her. Mr. Fakhoury also questioned the Police Officer who stated that the ex-girlfriend did not appear wet when he inspected her. After hearing the evidence, KA was found Not Guilty and the Order of Protection was Denied!

Posession of a Controlled Substance

State of IL v. “AL”: AL was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance by the Mount Prospect Police after allegedly possessing less than 15 grams of cocaine. AL’s case was heard at the Circuit Court of Cook County- Third Municipal District Rolling Meadows Courthouse – 2121 E. Euclid Rd. Rolling Meadows, IL 60008. Attorney Matt Fakhoury was able to get AL’s drug case dismissed.

State of IL v. “TB”: TB was charged with domestic battery by the Skokie Police Department after TB’s wife alleged he had grabbed her after an argument. TB’s case was assigned to the Circuit Court of Cook County – Skokie Courthouse located at 5600 Old Orchard Rd. On the first court date, TB’s wife requested an order of protection against TB. Attorney Matt Fakhoury contested both the order of protection and the criminal charges against TB. State of IL v. “YR”: Police Officers pulled over YR in Chicago for several traffic violations. While speaking to YR, police detected an odor of alcohol, slurred speech, and blood shot eyes. YR was arrested and charged with DUI. At trial, Attorney Matt Fakhoury demonstrated that YR did not fail the field sobriety tests as the officer indicated in his reports. YR was found Not Guilty!

State of IL v. “RS”: RS was charged with domestic battery by the Chicago Police Department after getting into a dispute with his ex-girlfriend. She alleged that RS struck her in the face. The case was heard at 555 W. Harrison St. in the Circuit Court of Cook County. Attorney Matt Fakhoury took the case to trial and was able to show that she was intoxicated during the alleged altercation. Mr. Fakhoury also established self defense is that RS was protecting his infant child at the time of the altercation. The judge found RS Not Guilty!

State of IL v. “SW”: SW was charged with Felony Possession of a Controlled Substance by the Cook County Sheriff’s Police Department. SW’s case was heard at the Circuit Court of Cook County- 2nd Municipal District Skokie Courthouse -5600 Old Orchard Rd., Skokie, IL. SW was the passenger of a car stopped by the police for speeding. The driver of the vehicle stored a controlled substance under the driver’s seat. SW was in the back seat but because the car was in his name, police assumed he had constructive possession of the narcotics. Attorney Matt Fakhoury spoke to the prosecutor and explained the weaknesses of the case and the officer’s flawed theory on constructive possession. Matt Fakhoury was able to get the charges dropped on the very first court date.

GP was pulled over on the side of the road when the Glenview Police approached her vehicle. State of IL v. “RB”: RB was charged with misdemeanor Driving on a Suspended License (625 ILCS 5/6-303) and other traffic violations at the Circuit Court of Cook County – Rolling Meadows. Attorney Matt Fakhoury was able to negotiate with the prosecutor and get the case dismissed.

“AA” was summoned to court in Rolling Meadows because his girlfriend wanted an Order of Protection against him. After having a hearing before a judge, the petition for the order of protection was denied!

State of IL v. “RM”: RM was charged with felony Possession of Cannabis by the Illinois State Police Department. RM’s case was held at the Circuit Court of Rolling Meadows. Attorney Matt Fakhoury was able to negotiate with the prosecutor and get the case dismissed.

State of IL v. “FZ”: FZ was charged with domestic battery in Chicago by his sister’s boyfriend. FZ and the boyfriend fought after FZ defended his sister as her boyfriend pushed her. Attorney Matt Fakhoury claimed self defense because the evidence showed FZ was defending his sister from harm. FZ’s case was Dismissed!

State of IL v. “MR”: MR was charged with his second DUI by the Illinois State Police Department after committing several traffic violations and failing field sobriety tests. MR’s case was heard at the Daley Center – 50 W. Washington St., Chicago, IL. The trooper testified that he smelled an odor of alcohol on MR’s breath and that his eyes were blood shot and glassy. The trooper also stated that MR failed the field sobriety testing. Attorney Matt Fakhoury was able to provide the judge with the squad DVD showing that MR passed the field sobriety tests. The court found MR Not Guilty.

State of IL v. “VC”: VC’s wife wanted a divorce and accused VC of domestic battery. When VC’s wife took the stand at trial, Attorney Matt Fakhoury was able to show the judge that her story was fabricated simply to gain leverage in the divorce and custody case. VC was found Not Guilty!

Charge: Delivery Of Cannabis, Possession of a Controlled Substance

State of IL v. “GN”: GN was charged with drug offenses for selling cannabis and drug possession in Skokie, IL. His case was sent to the Skokie courthouse located at 5600 Old Orchard Rd. in Skokie, IL 60077 and after negotiating with the prosecutor, Attorney Matt Fakhoury was able to get both charges dismissed.

State of IL v. “RP”: RP was charged with two counts of domestic battery after getting into an argument with his wife. Their neighbor heard the argument and called the police. At trial, Attorney Matt Fakhoury cross examined the neighbor, police officers, and RP’s wife showing RP’s innocence. RP was found Not Guilty!

State of IL v. “AI”: AI was charged with her second DUI by the Berwyn Police Department after committing several traffic violations and failing field sobriety tests. The officer testified that he smelled an odor of alcohol on AI’s breath and that her eyes were blood shot and glassy. Attorney Matt Fakhoury was able to get the officer to admit he made several mistakes on his reports and that he administered the field sobriety tests improperly. The court found AI Not Guilty.

State of IL v. “KH”: KH was going through a divorce. He woke up to find the police at his apartment one morning. KH’s wife accused him of domestic battery and KH was arrested. At trial, Attorney Matt Fakhoury obtained medical records showing that KH had lied about her alleged injuries. KH was found Not Guilty!

State of IL v. “AB”: AB was caught taking items from a retail store in Skokie, IL and subsequently arrested for Retail Theft. Her case was sent to the Skokie courthouse and after negotiating with the prosecutor, Attorney Matt Fakhoury was able to get AB’s case dismissed.

State of IL v. “EC”: EC was charged with domestic battery by the Schaumburg Police Department. EC’s wife accused him of abusing and injuring her. At trial, Attorney Matt Fakhoury was able to show that EC’s wife lied about her injuries and the alleged abuse. EC was found Not Guilty!

State of IL v. “GM”: GM was driving home when he was involved in a serious traffic crash. Police officers from the Bartlett Police Department arrived and detected an odor of alcohol coming from GM and glassy-blood shot eyes. GM was charged with Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol and was taken to the hospital where his blood was drawn. The lab results revealed that GM had alcohol in his system and was over the legal limit. Attorney Matt Fakhoury took the case to trial and GM was found Not Guilty!

Charge Burglary

State of IL v. “CV”: CV was charged with Burglary after his Driver’s License was found on the floor of a van that had been broken into. At trial, Attorney Matt Fakhoury explained to the Judge that CV’s car was also burglarized and CV’s wallet was stolen just before the van had been burglarized. The two vehicles were 4 blocks apart at the time of the burglaries. Mr. Fakhoury argued that the same unknown perpetrator broke into both vehicles and planted CV’s license in the van to lead police away from him and to CV. The court found CV Not Guilty.

State of IL v. “AI”: “AI” was pulled over after watching a Chicago Bear’s game with a friend. The Cicero Police Officer stated that he smelled alcohol on AI and that she failed field sobriety tests. AI was charged with her second DUI. Attorney Matt Fakhoury took AI’s case to trial and showed that the rookie police officer made numerous errors in administering the field sobriety tests. AI was found Not Guilty!

State of IL v. “MZ”: MZ was on probation for a felony when he was pulled over by the Berwyn Police Department for a stop sign violation. Police found a bottle of alcohol in MZ’s car and subsequently charged him with DUI. At trial, MZ was found Not Guilty!

State of IL v. “ES”: ES was an employee at a home improvement store in Hoffman Estates and was accused of stealing money out of the register. ES was working with another new employee the night of the Theft. At trial, Attorney Matt Fakhoury had the new employee testify and caught him in several lies. ES was found Not Guilty!

State of IL v. “RG”: RG was driving his car in Evanston when he got lost. RG pulled over and fell asleep in his vehicle. Evanston Police Officers woke him up and charged him with DUI after smelling alcohol on his breath and detecting slurred speech.
