Define Accessory

An accessory is a person who helps another person commit a crime. The help can occur before the crime or after the crime – either way, the act of helping makes the person an accessory.

A person can be an accessory to any type of crime, ranging from a misdemeanor to the most serious felony.

Accessory Example

Jesse helped Angie hide the evidence that she stole clothing from a store in the mall. Jesse is an accessory.
