Of Counsel

Stacy Komers is “Of Counsel” to The Law Offices of Matt Fakhoury, LLC as well as the owner of Komers Law, located in Orland Park, Illinois. Matt and Stacy met as prosecutors in the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office and subsequently left the State’s Attorney’s Office in 2011. They now work together to give you the best combination of legal expertise in Chicago.

While a prosecutor, Stacy litigated issues of paternity, child support, and enforcement in the Child Support Enforcement division of the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office. She was then promoted to the Juvenile Abuse/Neglect Division working alongside the Department of Children and Family Services. Stacy then gained experience in the Juvenile Delinquency Division trying felony and misdemeanor trials. Currently, in her private practice, in addition to defending criminal cases and litigating petitions to expunge and seal, Stacy also focuses on domestic relations cases, civil orders of protection, DCFS administrative appeals, and small claims cases. Stacy also provides legal services with clemency petitions, health care waivers, certificates of relief from disabilities, and certificates of good conduct.

Biography

Stacy Komers was born in Southern California and received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science from the University of California, Los Angeles in 2000. She then clerked for an appellate firm, Horvitz & Levy, LLC in Encino, California before enrolling in law school. She moved to Illinois to attend Loyola University Chicago School of Law, and obtained her Juris Doctorate in 2004. Stacy then clerked for the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office while in law school. She became a Cook County Assistant State’s Attorney in 2004, where she was assigned to the Child Support Enforcement Division, Juvenile Justice Bureau, Abuse/ Neglect and Delinquency Division, and then the Felony Review Unit. Stacy entered private practice in 2011. She also serves as an adjunct professor at Governors State University. She has been licensed to practice law in California since 2005.

Prior to law school, Stacy clerked at an appellate law firm, Horvitz & Levy, LLC in Encino, CA. Stacy graduated magna cum laude from the University of California, Los Angeles. Stacy is licensed to practice in both Illinois and California. She is a member of the Chicago Bar Association.
